Almost everything is on this list, and every item has a short fix. Start with the setup check.
4 Check My Setup.cmd in C:\ShortcutDeck, the
folder you unzipped to. Seven lines, each OK or with the fix under it. It changes
nothing; it only tells you. Most of the time one line is flagged, and most of the time
that line is Claude Code not installed yet, which is Step 5 of the guide.ShortcutDeck is Windows only today. Not partly working, not working with a workaround: the launchers, the installer and the setup check are all Windows.
macOS is planned and it will ship tested on real hardware rather than ported blind. Leave your address on the home page and you will hear the day it lands.
If you bought it without noticing, say so and we will sort it out. That is on the listing to make clearer, not on you.
The keys type into the Claude Code window that is in front. If no Claude Code is open, the first press only opens one - press again.
If a tab is in front where Claude has quit (a plain black prompt), press RESUME. It starts Claude again in that tab.
Both are first-run screens, not faults. “No conversation found to continue” means there is nothing to resume yet, so Claude Code starts fresh. Nothing to press.
“Try the new fullscreen renderer?” has “Yes, try it” already highlighted. Answer it by hand: click into the Claude Code window, press the Down arrow to move the highlight to Not now, then Enter. Every key was tested on the standard view. It does not ask again.
Press YES on the deck. By hand: the Down arrow, then Enter.
Never plain Enter on this screen - the highlight sits on “No, exit”, so plain Enter quits.
Plan mode is on (the PLAN MODE key turned it on).
Press MODE (Page 2 - press MORE, row 2, last key - second row, first key)
until the line under the prompt says manual mode on.
Auto mode is on - it answers for you.
Press MODE (Page 2 - press MORE, row 2, last key - second row, first key)
until the line under the prompt says manual mode on.
You are typing into a plain terminal or the Claude desktop app, not Claude Code.
Press RESUME, then press the key again.
claude is not recognised, even after installing itYou skipped step 5 of Step 5 in the guide - the PATH line - or the terminal window was already open when you installed, so it does not know the new command exists.
Close every terminal window, open a fresh one, and try again.
That is HP Sure Click, SmartScreen or similar being careful about a file you downloaded. It is the same file.
Click Remove protection and open, or More info then Run anyway.
Fine. Python is not part of this install and nothing on the deck needs it. Claude says so and works the answer out by hand.
Nothing to do.
You are in the fullscreen renderer, either because you said Yes to it or because your Claude Code account started there.
Type /tui default into Claude Code and press Enter. Claude Code restarts
itself in the standard view with your conversation intact. /tui fullscreen
takes you back the other way.
You are in the fullscreen view, where the diff is a side panel that needs a wide window.
Maximize the Claude Code window and press DIFF again - or type
/tui default and press Enter for the standard view, where DIFF needs
no width.
That key - CLIP, COWORK JOB, YDY RECAP or FAN OUT - hands your clipboard or a task to the Claude desktop app, which is not installed.
It is free at claude.com/download, same login as Claude Code. Every other key works without it.
It pulls in a chat you started on your phone or at claude.ai.
Start one there first.
It is not stuck. It is waiting for you to choose a theme.
Use the Up and Down arrows, then Enter. Dark mode is fine.
Every key's own page is one press of HELP away, and the full help
file is at C:\Users\<you>\ClaudeDeck\CLAUDE-DECK-HELP.txt.
If none of that does it, email support@shortcutdeck.com and include a screenshot of the setup check. That one picture usually answers it.
C:\ShortcutDeck and most mysterious behaviour goes away.
